The cost of living is a big part of everyone's life, and everything I do in Council is done with that in mind.
Some things that happen in Council are not only completely out of my control, but also the control of the entire Council.
In the last couple of years the State Government has tied water infrastructure up in red tape. Water assets which used to be owned and operated directly by Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC), now form part of an entity under a joint participation agreement with the Sunshine Coast Council (SCC), approved by the State Government.
This structure is entirely legislated, regulated and governed by the State Government.
Costs going up influencing how much you pay for water include: electricity, bulk water charges, fleet vehicle running costs and registration, maintenance of aging infrastructure, Queensland Water Commission fees ($610,000), loss of State Government subsidies and now the cost of the newly formed Ombudsman (approx $500,000 includes approx 50 complaints at $5000 per complaint).
I am actively fighting these cost increases and welcome your suggestions by going to www.adrianraedel.com.au and clicking on 'contact me'.
