ANZAC day at Woodford

Dawn service at Woodford was well attended this morning, with more people then the President of the Woodford RSL had seen before at the early service.

As the dawn slowly broke, the glimmers of light revealed about 350-400 people had ventured out at an early hour to pay tribute to those men and women who had fallen in past theatres of war and whilst it was a beautiful start to the morning the weather wasn't hold all day.

Woodfords main service and march was subject to rain with the march being cancelled and the service quickly moved to a new venue.

"The members of the Woodford RSL should be congratulated" Cr Raedel said "not only was their dawn service wonderfully and respectably carried out but the numbers of people sharing the event was fantastic"

"I would also like to thank the committee for the amazing way in which they put together 'plan b' when the main serviced was washed out"

"I was honoured to have a role in the ANZAC service in my home town and appreciate the dedication of the RSL members in continuing the service with hundreds of people packing the Woodford Memorial Hall "

"Today was a day to reflect on all those who have lost their lives and to ask of ourselves, are we living up to the expectations of those died?"

"If the answer is yes, then we are doing well, however if the answer is no, then today is the day to make changes, today is the day to pledge to lead a better life in honour of those who lost theirs so we may live free and in peace."
