Bellthorpe Weekly Update

Weekly update of matters in keeping with last week's meeting: 1. Stoney Creek Rd / area: Stoney Creek Rd Maintenance: Gravel pavement will be monitored and maintained as required. I am advised that the current condition is currently quite good with some minor drainage works and pot hole patching planned for next week "weather permitting"; Stoney Creek Rd bitumen pavement: Contractor has been engaged to carry out pavement repairs with proposed works to commence next week, weather permitting; Stoney Creek Rd Causeway: Attempts have been made to remove rocks jammed into pipelines with no success. further investigations required as to how problem can be solved;
2. Gap Rd:
Hyder Consulting has been engaged as the consultant engineers (geotechnical and civil) on the project. Hyder were on site this week with the drilling rig (Monday-Wednesday). Hyder will now have the samples analysed and advise on safe load of road and commence design options based upon the test analysis. As advised last week this will take up to two weeks for the testing results to be finalised. Hyder in the meantime will work through some design / solution options. Additional bunding and star pickets will be installed to identify unsuitable road shoulder on the approach to the Gap Rd slip. The Council's Project Manager for the project is Royce Jackson. 3. Bellthorpe Range Rd: Regarding the majorly damaged section of Bellthorpe Range Road (1.2km section) - onsite meeting was held last Wednesday 23 March with representatives from the engineering consultant Worley Parsons. It was agreed that a proposal for undertaking the investigation and design work for Bellthorpe Range Road would be forwarded to Council by close of business Friday 1'st April. Council Surveyors have been employed to commence survey on the subject damaged area of Bellthorpe Range Road. Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) data is currently being undertaken. A site visit with the consultant after the initial ALS data is given to them, will narrow down survey requirements required to undertake the design phase of the project. The slip areas and/or concentrated field survey can then be cut in to the ALS data once we know what we need to pickup in more detail.

Emergency services contacts: Investigations are being carried out to obtain appropriate contacts within emergency services followed by the implementation of a process to provide regular updates; Signage: Two new permanent signs will be created for locations at Mears Lane and Nonmus Rd "Road Closed Ahead Local Traffic Only" estimated completion within a fortnight; Pot Holes: Councils Flocon/Bitumen truck will carry out a pot hole run starting next week to patch pot holes in the region concentrating on Bellthorpe Range Rd, Gap Rd and Stoney Creek Rd "weather permitting"; Temporarily cover "Bellthorpe" sign on Beerwah/Kilcoy turnoff: Signage controlled by Main Rds and will not be covered or removed.
